The program allows teams to decide if they want to remain available for 24 days of each 28-day cycle. Teams that take advantage of the bonus receive an additional 2 cents per team dispatch mile.

“This added benefit to team drivers makes it possible for them to either take additional time off or earn a higher pay check – whichever is a higher priority for them during that month,” says Eric Templin, Land Span vice president of safety and recruiting.

Already, Land Span’s team drivers are excited about this new offering because it is a bonus they fully control, unlike those that rely on performance-based criteria. “It’s 100 percent their decision, which is why this program is so great,” says Templin. “If a team decides they want more time off during one cycle, we honor that request. If they want to be available for the bonus the next month, all they have to do is be available for dispatch. It’s completely up to them. The feedback we’ve gotten from our drivers has been very positive.”
